Arm Shopping!!

    Great news this week! I went to Vanderbilt to visit my doctor and we discussed getting my prosthetic arm. Originally they discussed shaving my scapula bone, due to the fact that it pokes out and causes me difficulty when laying on it. We worried that it is going to cause problems when the weight of a prosthetic is added. I do not have any muscle or fat over the area, it is just real thin skin. I say its old lady skin minus the wrinkles lol. We are afraid that the bone will cause problems due to those factors.


    Wednesday the doctor decided he wasn't going to jump the gun, he said to go ahead and get an arm and see what happens. Who knows hopefully I won't have issues! Fingers crossed! Who wants to have an unnecessary surgery just for kicks! Not I! He did say that due to my old lady skin, I would likely have to see a plastic surgeon in the future to move some muscles around to help give me some nice shoulder pads! Sweet right? You know this surgery will be all the rage in Beverly Hills once they get notice!

    But my doctor hopes they don't have to do the surgery because it will change the nice contour of my shoulder he worked hard to construct. It was sweet at the appointment you could tell on the doctors face and in his expressions that he wished he could have done more to save my arm. I tried to assure him that he did a great job. After all in the beginning they told my parents they weren't going to be able to save my shoulder and collarbone, which is called a forequarter amputation. He just sculpted everything back together for cosmetic purposes, which I am so thankful for!

    Anywayyyyy so I am now shopping for cheap plane fair and will hopefully be going to my first evaluation appointment at the Advance Arm Dynamics in Dallas TX., which will be sometime in March! I'm Frickin excited! Go to the links page to learn more about Advance Arm!
